Frequently Asked Questions
Can I rely on AskOrganicBot for compliance decisions?
Use AskOrganicBot as a research and navigation tool, not a final authority. It helps you find and understand the right regulations quickly, but final decisions should be based on primary sources and guidance from your certifying agent or applicable law. When in doubt, verify with your certifier.
How do I know the answers are accurate?
What about privacy? What do you do with my data?
We follow industry-standard security and compliance frameworks to ensure your information is protected and controlled:
Encryption — all data is securely encrypted while being sent and stored.
Independent auditing — our systems are regularly reviewed to make sure they meet industry best practices for security and privacy standards.
Data isolation — each AskOrganicBot instance is siloed, preventing any crossover between organizations or users.
Privacy auditing — data handling is fully auditable, with clear visibility into what is stored, where, and for how long.
No model training — your data is not used to train public AI models.
AskOrganicBot was built as a trust-first research tool. Your data stays safe and private, and is used only to support your work.

How can I contact you?
If you have feedback, need support, or want to explore custom options, you can reach us directly at hello@askorganicbot.com or through this form below. We respond to each email personally and are always open to hearing from certifiers, operators, and anyone in the organic community who wants to learn more.
How does AskOrganicBot get its answers?
We combine retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with a curated library of official materials (e.g., USDA NOP regulations, the NOP Handbook, policy memos, guides). When you ask a question, the system fetches the most relevant passages first, then the AI drafts an answer grounded in those passages, with citations provided so you can verify veracity.
For organizational deployments, we can add private sources (your SOPs, policy pages) and apply access controls so team-only content stays internal.
Is AskOrganicBot free? How can I support the project?
If you’d like to support the project, you can send us a testimonial, share the tool with colleagues, or contribute through our tip/sponsor page. Every bit of feedback and support helps us grow and improve.
The organic rules are detailed, dense, and constantly evolving.

About Franklin
AskOrganicBot was developed by Franklin Smith, who has spent over a decade working in the organic food industry, including several years at Oregon Tilth and now with Wolf & Associates.
During his time at Oregon Tilth, Franklin saw firsthand how difficult it can be for farmers and organic food professionals to access clear, straightforward information about certification requirements. He fielded countless questions from operators searching for simple answers they weren’t able to find in the regulations.
With the advent of AI tools, Franklin set out to build a resource that could make this knowledge more accessible. AskOrganicBot is the result — a continually improving platform designed to support the organic community and make the certification journey a little easier for those working so hard to nourish us and our families.
